Ro, thank you! And, your experience with Alex sounds very similar to a whole lot of wreckage he left behind in the States as well. I'm not actually sure it was a bad call to go see the Cajun band instead of '95 era Chilton??
My own memories of Alex Chiltern include being in New Orleans in 1995 at the end of a North South road trip with friends. I saw a small poster saying that Alex would be playing in the French Quarter the very next night, but hopes of going to the gig were thwarted when my pal got talking to a record shop guy and he recommended an up and coming Cajun group. We ended up going to see the Cajun band. The joint was jumping and everyone loved it, except me, I was sulking at the back thinking... why am I here when there’s a legend playing around the corner?
My other Alex Chiltern story is from the late eighties/early nineties when he came to Glasgow. He wasn’t great at that time I have to admit. He flirted with a beautiful friend of ours and it was the first slip in a whole applecart of relationships.
Alex Chiltern inadvertently wrecked my friendship group- not once but twice.
These posts get more and more beautiful

Rachel, what a kind thing to say and a wonderful thing to read! I'm excited to keep sharing some stories.
